Many of you probably know that if you have a letter D as the seventh digit in your VIN number that you have a 66 thru 77 Dodge or Plymouth full size model made in Belvidere IL. Well, in down town Belvidere we have a History Museum. Inside is a brand new 66 Fury II that was used and built by the engineers to set up the assembly line process. I believe the car has about 13 miles on the odometer. It by means in not perfect. you can see where they used too rough a grit sandpaper on the leaded seams in the C pillar and some paint blemishes. They used to bring it out on car show day, but the museum has been under construction with an addition being added. So I apologize for the OK pics. When Im over there again Ill take better pictures with a better camera.

Enjoy!

Wow, that is cool. Any chance of getting pictures under the hood? I really would like to see the painting of the heater core, the air shield and the cross bar :)

It wont hurt to ask next time Im inside there. I have something I found that Im going to donate so maybe that can be the leverage I need to get an OK from them.

My 66 Fury1 has a "4" in the 7th digit which also indicates Belvidere, IL plant and the sequence number is 119156. I would be curious to know what the last six digits of that car are to see if they rolled off the line anywhere near each other.

Great stuff Thanks for posting!

It would be very interesting to be able to closely inspect the car, talk about a survivor!
so what did you locate in your collection of stuff that you're thinking of donating?
