I noticed today while I was doing a tune up on the Polara, the engine mount on the driver's side is busted. Engine is a 400, but I'm guessing there's no difference between it and the 383 externally. Can anyone recommend a good mount to use?

Pretty much ANY aftermarket mount will be an offshore POS unfortunately. By the parts store Anchor brand.

I can show you a simple mod that will render then near bulletproof though.

I'll email you.

Well that sure beats buying mounts that are apparently of dubious quality. I take it that these drivers side mounts are a common failure point?

The driverside will be the first one to break, it gets stretched under engine torque vs the chassis resistance.
Can be ugly if happens under full throttle, as it can hold throttle cables in their 'last known position'.
As an old car driver it is best to know if/when shutting the engine off is the best first step toward survival.

If you have an old Mopar, it's VERY unlikely that the driver's side mount is original. Add in some heat and oily grime to the torque that stretches it under acceleration and the rubber eventually fails. You might be looking at the third or fourth replacement, maybe. If you notice in my mount mod photo, I have a Korea-made mount, before everything was made in China. I believe it was put there in 1998 by the PO when he had the engine rebuilt. Regardless of where your mount comes from, if you do that bolt mod, it will NEVER again fail, because the rubber bond won't be stretched by engine torque because the bolt limits the stretch and stress.

So buy a dubious mount, do the mod, and be happy.

I recently copped some decent NAPA rubber biscuits and replaced the previous set, which had a parted driver side mount. I use some nice heavy chain as a torque strap for now, though would like to install a more elegant solution for future use. A good cable or turnbuckle might do, along with a bushed connection to the K frame member. The chain saved that last mount and kept things in order for over 3 years.

Following y'all's advice, I added a couple of bolts to my new mount and installed it this afternoon. I didn't bother taking pics, as it's pretty much similar to what countless others have done. Suffice it to say, she's rock solid now. Thanks for all your help fellas!
