SOLD C-Body Floor Shift, Linkage and Console - Everything needed for Conversion

I was going to make the conversion to floor shift in my vert project but decided to keep the column shift/buddy-seat setup. This is out of a 1970 300, I’m not sure of the interchange with other years/models, but I think they are the same for ’69 - ’71. Someone on the board can confirm.

All of the parts needed for the conversion are included; C-body console, wiring harness, all the tunnel brackets, shifter and floor shift-specific linkage. I think everything should. Clean up nicely with a little elbow grease. The console itself [FONT=&quot](P/N 2788366) [/FONT]has a couple of minor rub spots, and is missing the carpet and chrome trim on the left side. The picture shows the carpet glue residue that would be covered by the new carpet. Console door opens and closes, I do not have the key for the lock. There is some swelling at the hinge, which is common for these padded tops. Wood grain looks great. The gear selector indicator slide that the shifter passes through would need to be replaced or repaired, it has some pieces missing.

I have always preferred a column shift until I got the console car, now I like the console and I don't know why

I had always intended to go with the console, but when I explained to my wife the concept of the buddy seat, she though it better so we could sit closer. How could I deny her that pleasure?

And that's why I like no console, for my own pleasure. The bucket / buddy combo is the best of both

Most of it sourced up in NY state near Buffalo, some from my friend in Colorado. I need to stop collecting and start building.

where? if you dont have the console which weighs about four pounds youll have a buddy seat

I just had to check, the buddy seat weighs in just under 15 lbs. The console itself comes in at 20 lbs., then there is the added weight of the extra linkage and beefier tunnel mounts. Figure in the shifter handle is heavier than the column shifter (which weighs about 8 oz, I know, I just shipped one to Alan), then subtract the standard Z bar mount that is the same on all automatics, wiring, bulbs, etc., and the total is about 38 lbs. So, you do shed about 23 lbs going with a buddy seat! Not to mention you get to sit closer to your girl....

I kinda like the look of the console setup. My 300's got the buddy seat setup but it's a stripped car - no power anything, no A/C. Just the 440/auto.

Gotta say that I prefer the console. I think since it's less common, it makes the car unique. In the last two years I've installed one in my '71 Dart and '67 Satellite with the correct steering columns. Will likely install one in my '70 Sport Fury as well. For those keeping score, it's a Mopar trifecta of A, B, and C bodies!

I'd like to know if the 71 setup you just picked up is the same as the 70 I have. I'm guessing they are he same across the C body line. You should post up pics of the A, B, C's that you have.

The consoles and floor shifts look cool and always give a car the "muscle car" look. Even though there were actually a lot of muscle cars that had column shifters. I've driven quite a few vehicles, mostly newer ones, with floor shifters, but never a C-Body. So, I'm wondering, do the factory floor shifters in C-Bodies shift more precisely than column shifters?

I always wished that my car had been ordered with the buckets and console/floor shift and always kicked around the idea of converting it. I probably still would if I stumbled upon a car that had everything, but I'm not absolutely sure that I would. I do kind of like it the way it is.

The other thing about floor shifters, whether manual or automatic, is by force of habit, I always end up driving around with my hand on the shifter. :laughing7:

Since the seat belt laws came in, I hardly ever see anybody driving around with their girlfriend or wife sitting in the middle. Of course, nearly all of the newer vehicles have some type of buckets in them, so she wouldn't be able to sit in the middle anyway.
