Chinese 4 barrel for the win!

Please don’t judge, this car stuff ain’t cheap.
So I finally got a 4 barrel and intake on my car and it is an amazing difference on the 360. Plus the old carb was junk so it’s nice to have a decent running carb, even if it’s a Chinese unit. It’s plugged into a Chinese intake. Surprisingly it all seems to operate well thus far! Wish me luck.
Now to check why the suspension got so rough in the back… maybe body mount bushings.

If I were to try a 4-bbl intake / carb on my 318, that's the way I'd go (with the chinesium clones)

Recently, I ran across some ads from "Speedmaster" brand for USA V-8 hot rod parts. Aluminum intakes, electronic distributors, mainly.

The intakes look like a mix of what would be the old Edelbrock or Holley OEM 4gbbl replacement manifolds and the hi-rise performance intakes, but more in the hi-rise orientation (which would need air cleaner-to-hood clearance!). The cosmetics look pretty good. Usually sold via eBay stores, but seems like I recall some Speedmaster aluminum cyl heads in the Summit Racing catalog?

The pricing on their 4bbl intakes is VERY attractive. Considering that the normal Edelbrock Performer intake for an LA engine has been right at $400.00 USD for several years. BUT, when Chry went to the non-RV2 a/c compressor, the rear compressor mounting lug necessitated the twisting of the thermostat housing (and mounting bolts) to be twisted a bit . . . which those particular Speedmaster intakes typically do not have on them. That change affects the 1980 model year and later. The RB intakes look neat, though.

YOURE RIGHT! Egg on my face. I always forget these are unibody with a subframe. My bad rookie mistake.

Yup it was a $155 Assault brand chinesium intake

Had to drill a little one of the holes on the Chinese intake and steal some parts from my old two barrel for the four barrels throttle linkage. The four barrel is a Chinese Edelbrock 1406 style carburetor. Car runs well and also has a new “redneck special” exhaust.
