let the cheby fordingo guys run-em, I still stand by getting a used one and rebuilding it for less headaches is still affordable, even one that's been sitting in a junkyard is way ahead
 
You might get a twist drill to enlarge the idle air jet orifice on top of the venturi cluster. Two holes, the small one is for idle and the other one is for the main system, which should be right over the emulsion tube on the bottom of the venturi cluster. Smaller hole = richer, so a SMALL bit of enlargement will lean things out a small bit. Might need an AFR meter to find the right size.
