Console lights wont work anymore

The lights in the speedo and shift selection have stopped working, they were working fine then just stopped, i have checked all bulbs,all wiring (nothing has changed from when they were working) fuse is sweet, everything is normal when i put the test light on the fuses all have power except the one where the console lights connect, i have swapped fuses around etc and when run power direct to that fuse the lights work, what could be wrong?

You ARE checking power to the fuse with the headlight switch ON, right??

yes , and no power, if i run power straight to the fuse it works perfect

the only thing i have noticed but it has always been like it so shouldnt be the cause of the problem is, in the pic of the wiring diagram coming of the fuse block where the red arrow is is a violet wire which is live but goes no where (just hanging there) it says console feed but doesnt show where it should go it just has the arrow, the orange arrow is the fuse for the console lights

the only other thing i can think of is a knackered dimmer control, is there a way of by passing it to see if they work?

if you have no power on the fuse go to the back of the headlight switch and see if you have power when its turned on. the wire looks to be tan in your diagram. you may have a bad switch or wire connection at switch. hope it helps
