Has anyone had this problem? I can't seem to get the door to close flush with the dash. I tried adjusting the tab that rests against an inside piece of dash metal, but doesn't do anything. Almost seems like it's sprung.

Any tricks/tips?

some wireing in behind has probally droped and blocked it...shouldn't be to hard to sort out...

Did you remove the entire ashtray ASSEMBLY to see what the problem is?
That's my next plan. Most of the dash needs to be pulled apart. I'm just trying to hold off as I'd like to keep driving it.

The ashtray is tough to get into place correctly. I think it could be one of two things. One is you don't have the bottom hooked on right. There's a notch on the bottom of the ash tray that goes over the bar. The other is there's a sprung arm that rides on top of the actual tray (not the door) that keeps the ash tray from flopping down. If that's bent down, that may be the problem.

If that's not it, it's four screws to take out and see what the issue is.

I say the whole body is twisted or tweeked,,,

It could also be the mounting of the under dash gauges. look to see if any of the mounting bolt are binding it.
