Electric Car Fire at my Neighbors

There's a little bit of action going on next door.... The new owner and his wife were sitting in his truck in the driveway yesterday, screaming at each other in Ukrainian.

There's also a good size hose running out of the house into the driveway and you can hear it pumping water out. I noticed it yesterday and mentioned it to Mrs. Big John who said "It's been there a few days". We did have some serious rain, then a bunch of snow, then it all melted. We got a little water in our basement after the rain, which isn't unusual for that much downpour.

I was told once that when my property was part of the farm, they always planted things that used a lot of water here.

So, I'm really wondering what's going on... I don't think they put gutters up after the new roof and if they didn't bother with keeping the sump pump(s) in the basement running, that could flood that basement, but I don't know if it would be that much.

This may be blowing up in their faces. There's still a mess in the front yard, including the old refrigerator that's been there over a month. I'm surprised that no one has bitched to the town zoning dept. (I won't do that)

Meanwhile, we're discussing the cost of a 6' privacy fence along the property line on that side.

As someone who got involved (and eventually elected 4X) to city government BECAUSE I was concerned about them getting too picky about current 1x1" registration stickers, etc. I'd tell you there's zero shame in calling in a legit problem. If you get tagged for a derelict car in my city, its because its a legit eyesore with missing parts/totalled, not just because you didn't pay your extortion money to the state.

I have done a lot of house flips & rehabs/rentals and there is NO WAY I'd disrespect the neighbors by leaving a mess or dead refrigerator sitting around for more than a day or two, let alone over a month. Not to mention the stupidity of a giant red flag when I'm sure a lot of permits were missed, etc.

I have my rentals in solid neighborhoods and make a point to introduce myself to everyone surrounding me and leave a business card with instructions to call if they ever see an issue. That's paid off many times by avoiding serious damage or getting great referrals. I consider the home as principle and rent as interest. I will nor allow anyone to lower the value of my principle because they're disrespectful or too dumb to know better.

As if we need another reason to avoid EV's.

Saw a video the other day of owners expressing regrets in buying their EVs. Amazing number did not have garages or carports, and had to pay for every charge at charging stations. Can't believe they were so brainwashed to buy them, but at least they don't have to worry about their garages catching on fire.
