Hi Folks,
I've got a 1966 Chrysler 300 convertible and I'm trying to decode the fender tag. It's proving rather challenging! Does anyone know how to do this or can point me in the right direction?
Much appreciated,
Dale

As far as the trim and such, you can find those in the "Library" section at www.hamtramck-historical.com (might need to input that address manually) in the Color and Trim Guide and in the Dealer Order Guide for other options and such. Follow the prompts to get to the spreadsheet page for the correct model year.

Take care,

Looks like we have the same address
A few things, the 64 is buckets- console. The 625 is 383 4bbl automatic. One of the weird things is the CM43.. seems to me that would be something like a Newport 4dr?? Strange. I would have guessed yours to be something like CH27 or CP27.

I agree. The tag is from a V02 (WP2) Chrysler 300 four door hard top (CM43). It also looks like the car was some sort of "special order/handling car" possibly due to the two tone paint job.

As mentioned, that isn't a convertible fender tag. Does the shipping order number on the tag match the one on the core support?

How does your VIN start? It should be CM27G6 if it's a 300 convertible with a 383.

Hi, Dale: Thank yo, thank you for your posting and query. The fender tag is from a 1966 Chrysler 300 4-door hardtop. I hope you have the 4DHT instead of a convertible--or in addition to the convertible. I'm working on adding 1966 MoPars to my combo VIN & Fender Tag/Body Data Plate decoder, have processed your data and need your help. My preliminary report is attached and I'm asking you to confirm the decoded data or point out errors. I have not loaded Trim or Paint codes yet but believe the TRM code M4W stands for white vinyl seat covers and interior--and that the PAINT code WP2 stands for a Persian White lower body color with a Scorch Red top-as two-tone styling. You will note that I am stumped on several items. Please advise if any of the options listed match your car: e9: possibly front-mounted antenna, front disc brakes, tilt and telescope steering wheel, or undercoating and under-hood pad. E3: Bumper guards F&R, headrests L&R, deck lid release. There are other possibilities if these don't match options on the car. Please advise if either or both of the bucket seats are powered. I have estimated the first seven characters of this car's VIN. It it is truly a 300 convertible, the VIN would begin with CM27G63. Forward Looking to working with you to improve my decoder and assist you in knowing more about your car(s). Other readers are encouraged to chime in with their knowledge and curiosity. I welcome the opportunity to work with you and others to advance the art and science of tag decoding. Please post or send me pics of fender tags of any '66 Chrysler or Imperial. VIN's help to complete the report but are not critical to decoding the Fender Tags. My decoder can process some '66 Dodge & Plymouth data at this point. Have a great weekend.

Oops. Make that December 9, 1965. Like I said, work in progress.
