first Huge Hurdle to my front end re-build

I had the same problem the first time I tried to remove the tires. Fortunately I figured it out before I broke anything. I ended up changing them all to right handed tread.

If you are thinking about changing to a different wheel, besides keeping the hubcaps, you won't have many options for lug nuts in the left handed thread.

As mentioned- Chrysler over-engineering... They engineered for a problem that only exists if one does not torque the lug nuts correctly. This was rarely an issue, so that's why Chrysler Corp. eventually caved and followed suit with the brand X guys.

+1

everyone learns the hard way. there is an " L " stamped on the end of the stud.

mine... the socket broke before anything else did. when can you ever say thank god for cheap made in china crap sockets.

the socket sits on my toolbench as a silent reminder.

amazing how many people dont think of the left hand thread. most trailers are the same way. i am surprised the tire guy didnt figure it out.

But how many of you have had a wheel fall off on the left side of your non-Chrysler? The problem is that they solved a problem that didn't really exist.

My 2001 Grand Prix... 6 years ago.

Rental Jeep in the Bahamas 3 years ago...

Neither came all the way off.... I caught the problem in time.

It happens....

BTW, neither of which I tightened.... Never had one come off that I tightened and rechecked...
