Fixing a noisy, tinny sounding trunk lid on my Formal

Not sure if this is related, but on my 69 when I close the trunk lid it sounds like metal banging on metal. Not a nice soft thump, but more like a hammer banging on metal. Does the weatherstrip have anything to do with this, or is it a latch adjustment? Or are they all that way?

Based on how those 2-full-layer trunklids are constructed - I'd leave it alone.
It is greater risk to ruin it vs improving the sound. (as others have demonstrated)
That polyurethane spray foam is capable of leveling concrete slabs.

I bought one of these things awhile back for a project at work. It works nicely, but it requires a steady hand or a straightedge.
You could make a few 3/4" holes in strategic locations, and then put some panel adhesive in the gap, or maybe some construction silicone.
You would need to make sure that the red-circled area is shallow enough to fit the gap between outer and inner pieces.
It does leave a fairly burr-free edge.
