Hello,

I am considering rebuilding my 65 383 and am looking for good recommended places for the work to be done. I am pretty sure that I could do the bulk of the work myself, but I would still need to have to have the machining work done at a shop.

The car lives in St. Clair County.

Who do you all use?

Thanks

Eric

I use these folks for my machining. If you don't know of them, its worth checking them out.

I also use these guys for all my carb work (at least 15 jobs the past 6 years).

Just suggestions since they happen to be roughly in your car's neck of the woods -- your opinion is what counts after you check them out if you want. :)

good luck!

I know it's a bit of a drive but there is a great shop that is known to be Mopar specialist. They've machined several of a buddies nitromethane hemis. I used them for my 413 , they did a great job.

It's further north out of the city but the guy I would use is Stauffer Motors. Phone is (810)672-9600. Mike does great work but it may take a while he is a one man band. He just finished all the machine work for my bosses 68 400 for his GTO. He does all our Cyl Head resurfacing for the business sometimes we send work else where because he's too busy but he is my first choice.

I'll add Muscle Motors in Lansing to the list. They're on the web. They've built 3 motors for me (2-440s and ah 2.2L), been around for 30+ yearz and I can only say good thingz about them. When you call you'll be talkin' to Eric. Tell him Jerry Olson sayz he'z gettin' tah be an old guy, lol. Jer

They built a stroked Hemi for me for a Challenger in 2003. While it came out great, there were some communication problems. Hopefully the bugs are ironed out. They have some talent in their shop for sure.
