Gum disease and Alzheimers

I don't mean this as a joke, but seriously, where do denture-wearers fit into this? Seems to me those who got them early would benefit.

There is a connection between gum disease and heart problems in some people....it is well documented. Doesn't hold true for everyone though. This alzheimers news is interesting.....because it is also known that ketogenic diets slow the progress of alzheimers in the early and moderate stages. Now here is what makes it interesting:

In alzheimers the brain is said to starve as it loses the ability to use glucose for energy. The brain functions even better on fat. Do you know what causes the most gum/tooth disease? Undigested carbohydrates. That is where those bacteria are fed and grow. So perhaps high carb diets like the one advocated by the FDA are doing more harm than good. We know they are making us fatter by increasing insulin production and the related fat storage.
