Handbrake on a -56 Chrysler

Found this on "surfacebook" so there might be hope for me!:

I've now also read that 68-72 full size MoPar axels might fit.

Going crazy on this; I've joined a 55-56 MoPar group on "surfacebook" & it seems most people think as short as possible, it's only about replacing the whole rear axel...
Thinking a wee bit longer makes me remember many cars I've had & the backing plate was almost rusted away, so the steel can't be that awfully high quality as on Studebakers, = I'll make my own to fit the newer brake parts + the axel, shouldn't be that awfully impossible!
Thou I find it strange; it's a model that's lived for 66 years but there's not one(!) single person anywhere who's done this before???
"Ah no, let's get a Ford axel instead" seems quite more common.
Monday is the day I'm gonna pick her up... Wonder what name she's gonna have...

Just came to think of what people do when they don't know; they "think" they know!
For example "there can't be many US cars in Sweden!"... Well then, check out "Old Style Weekend", "Power Meet" or "Pilsner Bilar" on youtube... & find out how right you are...
Anyway, she's home now:
