Hi guys

I'm having troubles with hard cold start no matters if I use choke or not, my carburetor is a Carter AFB 625 but right now I'm dealing with rich mixture problems (spark plugs turns black after a couple minutes with engine running).

Can the rich mixture produce hard cold start issues?

Is the engine standard? what size motor? have you modified the carburettor from standard at all? Once we have the background to these questions then we can look to what might be the problem.

The engine is standard, 360 V8, originally was a 2BBL Holley 2245 But i change it for a carter AFB 625 CFM. I already bought a strip kit to try with differents jet sizes

How can I read the jet size of this carter? all 4 jets (primary and secondaries) has the number 145 on it

The symptom is the following: I crank the engine and sometimes it tries to start but doesn't do it so I've to spray carb cleaner on the air horn to crank again and the car starts, If I add gas instead carb cleaner not always start. When the engine is hot I only have to crank and start at the first time
