Has anyone used an aftermarket sure-grip?

To follow up on this.

As I said in one of the posts, I really didn't get any time on this last year. Driving it a bit this year, I got a chatter in the rear on a sharp left turn. Everything I read from Chrysler said to try changing the fluid. Since I used a gear oil that was supposed to be "limited slip ready", I decided that was the thing to do... So the car got the fluid changed to 80-90 Valvoline with a bottle of Ford additive. I'm glad to report the chatter is completely gone and the rear operates nice and smooth like it should.

So, I'm still very happy with the purchase. In hindsight, I should have gone with the additive in the first place. Live and learn.
I need photos of 2 black stripes :poke:

I'm thinking about this cheap unit, but can't find much reviews...
Anymore experience @Big_John ?
I have no complaints. The only issue I had was I needed to use the Ford friction additive and not the oil with the additive already in it.

I've been seeing these: For Chrysler Mopar 8-3/4" Sure-Grip / Power-Lock Posi Unit - 30 Spline 8.75" | eBay and I've been wondering if anyone has bought and used one.

The used stuff I see is usually a complete unit with gears and carrier and that's great, but I have the gears I want and a carrier. Basically $800 to $1000 versus $285. Set up isn't that hard and I think I can do that myself. Honestly, the only issue I have is lifting the center section in and out... They got a lot heavier in the last 20 years...

Yea, probably not as strong as the OEM or some others... But I'm not drag racing or doing burn outs either. And yea, I'm sure it's made in China, but what isn't these days?

Any thoughts?
Since this original link is long gone, are these pretty much all the same? There seems to be countless auctions for them on ebay.

Yes, it was similar. I see this one is cheaper!

I wondered if I had a shot of the numbers cast in the case. Looks like the "435" is there and the "527" of "52716018" in the same font, so I'm thinking they are the same.

I might be having to do the center section on my Imperial. Maybe the time to add one of these sure grip units.

If ur not driving in the snow, etc. and in all reality not driving it much at all, why not just put a lunchbox locker in and be done? No air shock adjustments needed for reliably connecting the tire patch to the road. I put the Powertrax™ in a Duster with a healthy 340 4-speed and it handled more than a few clutch drops, no sweat. No additives needed and they don't wear out. Much.
