Hello Everyone, I’m attempting to install the headliner in my 1969 Chrysler Town & Country. I ordered the perforated cardboard headliner from REM. I’m having a difficult time installing the panels, what tips do you guys have? I was told steaming them will help a bit. I’m afraid to over-saturate them. Please let me know what you guys have done - thank you!!

Well, although I've never steamed a headliner, I have steamed wood and I think the general precepts are the same.
I would steam it and clamp it to the old piece so that I could achieve the factory bend. Either that or fabricate a jig to duplicate the factory bend.
Since it is cardboard I would not steam it as "hard" so as to preserve color and integrity. Maybe just in the hot shower...
The concept is steam, clamp, let it set. I hope it works out.

Thank you for your reply! I wasn’t able to find any YouTube videos unfortunately. It’s definitely a tedious job that requires patience. I will probably end up trying to find a reputable upholstery shop to complete the job.

Steam and 2 people is it what it took for the 64.

One thing I added was small metal plate to the roof crossmember. On the 64 the dome light is only held in with the headliner. It now has a firmer attaching point. Do not know if others are this way.
