People will find a cop VIN plate inside a ham sandwich and that automatically makes it a $5,000.00 sandwich.

I'm losing my mind, here. CHP did NOT use Plymouth Satellites in 1972. Pass.

CHP did not use a "B" body in 1972. The first one was a 1973 Coronet used for testing, this car has been documented in "Mopar Action". They did not start using them in service until 1975.

In all my years in this hobby(which is well over most of them) I've not seen 2 tags stacked on top of one another. 3 days ago I saw it for the first time and have seen another 4 or 5 since then.

you all got this one figured out pretty good based on posts so far. :icon_cheese:

plus side, its got a "K" in the VIN, some "F" Fleet Codes, interesting options, and "P" engine (400-HP, which is gone tho) - so it looks like a real rig in some NON-CHP fleet.

down side, could be high as there's not really much info (words and pics) to go on for me if I was a buyer.

price "as is"? "just a bit outside" of what I would expect BUT I wish seller the best of luck with it.

Oh, never recall seeing that stacked tag thing EVER till today. dunno if that's a good/bad element about the car ..just aint seen it.

Courtesy of our own Doug and one I saw recently from a '71 Challenger convertible.

Used to, back in the day, you couldn't GIVE a damn cop car away.

Most were parted/trashed out. Look around at the Crown Vics now. They will disappear as well. When I was a kid, a friend's dad had a 289 AC Cobra. He wanted 6k for it. It took forever to sell it.

When Checker Motors was still producing even the taxi companies had no use for them... engine donors, if you believed they were special and Steve Earl, Jake and Elwood... etc

Knowing they were special or not I still always wanted one, at least since I was 15 or so. Just like I never knew that a Hemi car was special I still wanted one , even in 1980 or so. I really wanted a 71 Hemi Cuda convertible, wasnt until the 90s I found out they only made..., what 13?

I was more referring to the popular myths about cop engines, most were not different or faster than civilian models... usually upgraded charging, cooling and/or suspension systems on majority of police packages. I used to be very amused when someone bragged about their "cop motor", now I usually just feel sad.

Everybody wanted a hemi cuda convertible... except when they were new apparently. I remember there was a panther pink one that circulated all of the 80s magazines... every time with a new owner, a couple more miles and still plastic on the seats. That
car taught me that panther pink existed and car investors only want bragging rights and ROI, I can't see the pleasure there. I wonder if it ever finally got driven?

I always thought there were 9, but I've been wrong before.
