How's The Weather?

We got near nothing this storm except for brutal cold, -12 this morning.

People here are celebrating because we haven’t had much snow. When August comes and water rationing starts, their whistling will be of a bitter tune.

We’ve got lots of deep cracks in the ground - not good!

Man I love the XJ's. I have owned several over the years but sold my last one to friend around 2012. The best jeep for the money IMO. My last one was a black 2001 limited I bought in 2004. It got a correctly done manual trans swap in it after I sold it too. Had the opportunity to buy it back this past year and regret not going through with it. Got too many cars and need to get a shop built at house before I add more to my fleet. But will try to buy it back once I get the shop built. They are the perfect size and such capable little SUV's.
I bought this in 2010 after my Wife's 1997 Grand Cherokee got totaled. It was supposed to be a temporary vehicle just to teach my Son to drive. He was very comfortable in the 97 GC, so I thought the XJ would be easier for him. Well, November 2025, we had "Baby" 15 years. Bought with 83,000 miles, now has 197,000 miles. My Son liked it so much, he has a 2000 Cherokee Sport. It only has 86,000 miles and is in great condition. I put a Western plow on it more than 20 years ago to have as a backup in case my Silverado went down. I ordered a 2026 Silverado in October with delivery expected by December. I had a buyer for the old one and sold it. I even had my new plow on order. Well.....GM isn't building it until March 9th, 2026. So, the XJ it is.

I would love to find a good low mile XJ

We received very little snow recently but the past week was very cold and windy, at times overnight lows hovering around -40F ( -40C)and windchills hitting -50s. And today it’s a balmy -15C (4F). Fun…

Well, here in southern Minnesota we finally got above 0. First time since Thursday night. Hey we might get up to the 20's on Sunday.

My youngest son had an XJ that had close to 300K miles and it just got too rusty to drive.

I had an early XJ that was made by AMC I think it was an '84 or '85. 6 cylinder Chevy engine with a Torqueflite. Broke a rear end on the NYS Thruway while going 70+ and that was an interesting ride.... I was trying to figure out what to do and some guy stopped by and asked if it was for sale.... And away it went.

Came into our old section of build we use as the parts and jobs storage room flooding on the floor. It has one of those flat roofs with a slight pitch. Gutters are all frozen over and what started to melt just started weeping into the building. Now I get to snow blower the roof and un freeze the gutters and down spots. Winter freaking SUCKS!

We have been trying to avoid spending too much money on this building as it will get tore down and replaced for the next expansion....but that might be a couple more years yet. Looks like when the weather warms up some I'm going to need to replace the wood panels probably 8' in from the rear gutter as there are now a couple of soft spots that will continue to pool water and leak given how they look now.

You find a nice XJ you better be fast with your decision making. I saw a 97 with low mileage (around 100k) in Colorado Springs for $7500. The ad only lasted 2 days. An 89 north of Denver with similar mileage lasted a week for $5000. I was trying to figure out the logistics to buy either of them.
