One appears to clearly be the high beams. The other? No idea. Looks stock. Appears to be on or off. Not a switch. Has one wire wire leading up under the dash

to us noob's it is a valid question Stan...

If we don't learn as noobs and keep asking the same questions then we are just boobs.... and not the kind that may pop into your head either! LOL!

I would had to have read the owners manual on how to use the radio to catch that. I've not noticed it driving the car around for six months. Not till I pulled up the carpet and saw those two buttons poking through the carpet like a boob with two nipples. Bit of a surprise. I'll bet if I had taken the dash apart and followed it to the radio, I likely would not have known why.

Nuts.

And thanks for the reply.

IDK how many cars it was available on, but this question does come up a lot.

It is a lot of fun when you have someone in the car that does not know about it, and you tell them the radio has a mind of it's own and changes stations when it wants to.

When there are no more noob questions ,there are no more noobs and the forum and the C body hobby is dying. I think it is a good sign when we get any questions especially the beginer ones. I didn't know the answer either cause I am an old C body noob.

I hate to admit that is true but youre correct. I as an old guy simply presume everyone is a know it all

This question does come up a lot. I think it's just not something people are expecting to see.

By the way.. A little trivia. These are Delco radios.

I grew up with them. I guess what I'm really shocked about is that there are enthusiasts out there that are younger than me. lol :p

Did I ever tell ya about the time a young guy got into my F150 without power windows and had to ask me how to open his?

Well.... I learned to drive on a 74 T&C. Had the search and seek radio as buttons on the radio itself. I have another 77 T&C here, no extra button on the floor. I have a 78 NYB and it only has one button. So noob or not, My 40 odd years with Chryslers and driving them still did not prepare me to find two buttons down there! There wasn't even an option when I ordered the carpet for the two-hole version!

When I first saw this thread I thought the extra buttons next to the dimmer switch were going to be the air horn and the fog lights. GM put these pretty close together. The fog lights will only come on when the headlights are on low beam, but I bumped the air horn more than a few times when wanting to switch to low beams.

IDK how many cars it was available on, but this question does come up a lot.

1,847 on Chryslers, 1,138 on Dodges and 712 on Plymouths from '65-'73.
EDIT- For the record I pulled these figures from my ***, so consider it as dependable as Wikipedia.

Your not old... If your old, that means I'm old and I'm way too far from retirement to call myself old yet.

My cousin had a mid 80s D450 with contractor style bed and his friends 6-7 year old daughter loved riding in that truck so she could crank the windows up and down. I guess the initial complete fascination was priceless.

crank the windows up and down
I had the opposite experience with power windows. When I was a youngster, my dad was working on a friend's 1968 Fury. It was the first time I ever rode in a car with power windows. I was fascinated, so I spent some time riding in the back running them up and down; enough time, apparently, to annoy my dad so he finally had to lock them out.

I myself am guilty of asking question here without researching first. Ive found manuals to be wrong or guys who have done so know a better way.
