Can anyone tell me what my 62 Imperial filler neck should have to seal it in the tank? The filler neck fits pretty snug in the tank with no grommet or seal but I'm sure it won't seal without something.

Thanks Ross, that makes sense that it's an o ring and not a grommet. I'll see tomorrow if I can find one locally that will work.

Be SURE to get one that is rated to seal gasoline! Not a generic one of the correct size.

I wish a Factory Grommet would fit that style tank. The Re pop tanks for my '66 uses that internal 'O' ring and it leaked when i filled the tank. Anyone have a Good Used Clean tank for the 64-66 Imp ? I will do a Wanted Ad.too.

Are you sure it's not already inside that rim of the tank? That's where it usually sits.

If you can't find one, try Van's Auto. I bought a whole new tank from them, which came with the o-ring.

The 60-63 Imps have an internal " O " Ring. The 64-66 use the Grommet as pictured. The Re pop Tank from Vans is the Early (60-63) style and will not accept the Grommet. The Vans Re Pop tank does not have the Flare for the Filler tube.
