Inside the Crumbling Brooklyn Garage Hiding an Incredible Secret Car Collection
With the 92-year-old garage slated for demolition, we went inside to see exactly what it's been hiding.
Yes, years ago that was common in NYC area.Great story! I had never heard of an indoor gas station before.

My buddy's dad owned one in Bronxville NY. Had 4 floors of parking and the gas station on the ground floor. I pumped gas there on Sundays as a teenager. Best part was it also had an indoor wash rack so I could wash my car there in the winter.Great story! I had never heard of an indoor gas station before.
I bought a 1966 Dodge Monaco 500 around 2004 from a parking lot in Brooklyn DUMBO area. The guy stopped paying the rent October 2001. Thinking he was at Ground Zero. I also bought a 1960 Dodge Dart Pioneer from a shipping warehouse in Bayonne NJ. The car sat there for more than 10 years. Was supposed to go to Australia but never shipped. Allegedly they had difficulty filling the container, so it sat waiting. The company sold the facility and had to clear out everything. There was A LOT of neat stuff there. First time I saw a Cord in person lol.Thats amazing what people just leave behind or forget about! I would have paid to take that tour. I love old cars old buildings and the history!

Yes you could call it a breezway. The whole front of the building was open but closed on 3 sides.Sounds like a very similar building to the one in the article. I wish they would have included more pictures of the building itself.
In the one you worked at, were the pumps located in some sort of breezeway? I would assume proper ventilation is key here.
And it was covered. Maybe an alcove would be a better description.Yes you could call it a breezway. The whole front of the building was open but closed on 3 sides.
I found a picture of it on Google maps. It's now an auto spa. It sure looks a lot smaller than I remember but it was 50 years ago I worked there. And it was covered. Maybe an alcove would be a better description.
