Loose 4-speed Console

Console in my ‘66 Sport Fury 4-speed is very loose. I can lift the whole front end up. Only seems attached in the back. Is this normal or am I missing something underneath? It’s pretty aggravating especially shifting over into Reverse. Also, it seems like it positioned right but when shifting left over to Reverse it seems like the shifter is going so tight against console it’s pushing the entire thing over…maybe bad design but doesn’t seem normal.

Sounds like it is missing a few screws.

Does it screw directly to floor or should there be a bracket?

It mounts to floor brackets - top, middle and bottom.

On one of the cars we have the holes in the bracket were stripped. I put in the next size larger screws and it worked great.
