I am finally turning my attention to the wheels of my 1968 300 convertible. I have decided on the Wheels Vintiques Magnum 500. I am looking for some guidance to make sure I am purchasing all the right parts, and the right wheel size. I have 15" wheels now, and like that diameter...I just want to make sure I have the width correct (as well as the other accessories). Below is my current shopping list from Summit Racing.... am I missing anything?

Wheel Vintiques 54 Series Magnum 500 Chrome Wheels 54-5712044. (15 in.x 7 in., 5 x 4.5 in. Bolt Circle, 4.25 in. Backspace)

Generally going with Summit for the tax break and free shipping, but I am open to any other suggestions.

Thanks Folks!

The Magnum 500 wheels for '68 were either 14x5.5 or 14x6. I suspect the C-body would have been 14x6. Solid chrome, no trim ring needed. The similar Ford Mustang items were 14x6 and have a Ford Oval logo stamped into the rim somewhere. When I was looking for some before they were repro'd, I ended up with a pair of Mustang 14x6 and a pair of Chrysler 14x5.5s.

The Wheel Vintiques 15x7 solid chrome Magnum should probably have a backspacing of 4.25", and they are quite common and look good on the cars. Chrysler never used a Magnum 500 15" wheel, but Ford did (15x7 on Mustangs in about 1970 or so).

Note that the 4-dr ht is a print ad and was in the sales brochure for 1968, so its ride height is "factory" while the white convertible appears to be a bit lower, by comparison. The hardtop would have had 8.55x14 tires. By observation, this would equate to P225/75R-14, which is impossible to find (although I found a set in the early 1980s, and later P245/75R-14 BFG Advantage T/As (NOS from Coker, back then). When the 15x6 W23 16-Slot Class 2 Road Wheels are used on these cars, the normal tire size used is P225/75R-15. P235/75R-15 works, too, but looks a little tall by comparison.

The 14" Magnums were not used on disc brake cars, which had 8.45x15 (66) and 8.55x15 (68) from the factory. There probably were clearance issues with the brake calipers.

Sorry for the multiple picture postings, not sure how that happened.
