Comp has it's own also and others make it. Anything flat tappet I work on gets it during a oil change.

I also have an 850cfm Holley with annular boosters that might help you get single down low.
The 509 will want a single plane I agree. Wind it up.

Freshing up the old 400 in FURYIOUS untill my 440 is done. Changed out the rods & main bearings. The crank looked ok. These are the mains. Previous owner was spinning it to 6000. Looks like I got to these in time. A new set of Federal Mogul bearings went back in.

No they are mixed up except the thrust bearing. The bottom pic is the cap bearing. The top pic is the saddle bearing.

They don't look too bad for a cast crank engine. They never deal well with high rpm.
