My friend needs a new fuel tank. The old one is leaking under straps. Rockauto does not offer a tank for -66 Newport but year -67. Now does anyone know, what makes the difference ?

You can usually take the tank to a radiator shop and they can solder the perforations, possibly using an exterior patch piece of metal, but given the placement of the holes in the particular tank, that might cause some other issues. Might be worth a try.

Not sure why the difference in '66 and '67 tank listings. That part of the car is pretty much the same from '66 to '68 models, from what I've seen. The filler neck removes from both of those tanks. Rated tank sizes were the same for the non-station wagon vehicles.

There are some other online eBay vendors that sell the Spectra Premium fuel tanks at similar prices (a few with free shipping). Possibly somebody at one of those vendors might have a better answer to your question? Please advise of how it works out. Some of them seem to be "Mopar specific" in what they sell.

CR1002A Avail 07/01/2018 66 Fury, 65-66 Chrysler NOT '65 Fury (obviously NOT for station wagons). . . . as seen on the website 9:50am CDST 06/03/18 $275.00 (which is a very nice price, compared to other places!). Pre-sale at this time, they noted. Verify as desired.

Enjoy!
