Hey guys looking for a little help. I picked up this nos radio yesterday at a swap meet but I can't find anything about it after a quick Google search. Part # on the radio 4048869, on the box 4048867. It's am/fm 8 track. It looks like the 76 and up style with a couple of little differences. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Chrysler part Number 4048867 was originally equipped in the following vehicles:

- 1978 - 1981 B-series van and MB-series motor home chassis
- 1981 D/W/AD/AW-series pickup tracks and Ramcharger

4048867 is the package part number which would appear in part listings and on the box. 4048869 is the unit number for the radio itself which is a component of the package part number and which could contain additional components such as brackets, wiring, knobs, etc.

With the mounting format used with this radio, and some wiring adaptations, the radio could be used in other models ranging from 1974, when the format was introduced on some models, into the early 2000s. Prior to 1984, wiring adaptations are relatively straight forward. In 1984, Chrysler introduced a new wiring standard for audio systems which continued into the early 2000s, but it can still be adapted to those as well. Male and female connector harness pigtails for the 1984 and later wiring are available for adapting forward and backward. I used some of these harnesses to adapt a 1997 Dodge truck digital radio/cassette into my 1979 Newport.

The wiring on the 4048867 is as follows:
- Red: +12 volt switched power
- Orange: dash lights
- Yellow: Left rear speaker (common for this is body ground)
- White: Right rear speaker (common for this is body ground)
- Green: Left front door speaker
- Purple: Right front door speaker
- Black: Left front door speaker and Right front door speaker, common
- Radio chassis: Ground
