WHAT.... is an "old school hooptie...."? it does NOT sound like a nice thing to say about a Newport Convertible......
Otherwise, what makes it hard to look at could conceivably........ be easily reversed, depends on if/how much bondo (or other problems) lurk underneath. Maybe the current well intentioned owner is just a little misguided in the color department. Wheel wells have either been repainted black or this was originally a black car, not that I'd want a double-black drop top. NO fan of the color it has been painted, but at least the air cleaner is correct. I have seen far worse sins on non-originality.
Well, hope it finds a good home that will bring it into a more tasteful situation.
Haven't seen it this year, but last year several times over the summer, I saw a '68 Newport droptop in light yellow w/black int. Matching color wheels with the same "poverty" hubcaps, sans whitewalls. It made a nice look on a Newport. Would be nice to see the same treatment on this one.
