That would be your fusible link and 100% the cause of your problem. Download a factory service manual from MyMopar That will have the good wiring diagram for your car in the manual.

I assume this is the '68 Fury that you posted about before.

I also saw in that post that you did the "bypass" without a fusible link. That link burnt out for a reason. So you have a short or overload somewhere and now you have no protection of the existing wiring. That's a very good way to burn the car down.

After some research and listening to what @72RoadRunnerGTX 's videos say about it, I decided that the "bypass" is not a good idea, although some may disagree. IMHO, you need to repair the fusible link and remove the "bypass". If you don't agree and want to leave the bypass, it's your car, but if nothing else, at least put a fusible link in that "bypass".

Yes i will for sure , i ordered a oem ford fuse wire , i wasnt sure if a fuse holder was strong enough...but yes it burned, but since i did the bypass... i dont know if i can just clean the bulkhead and leave it as is? At least for now , its not an excuse but i did the bypass "test" and i was very happy that it worked , the car ran like 3-4 minutes from a parking lot were it was left for dead....back to my place , just hope i didnt hurt anything...it was daylight so i didnt open the light switch etc...just started it right away the bypass was done and went home !

I went through the same thing last year on the way to the WPC meet in Canada was driving and car quit running pulled over when i opened the hood the bulkhead was on fire.
i had my mechanic replace the bulkhead block & fuse box and did the bypass also put in a new fusible link (old one burnt to crisp) replaced alternator, ballast resistor & starter relay .We also replaced the alternator wire to fusible link which is the one in your picture. Also replaced the voltage regulator with a electronic one as recommended by a few forum member's. We also did the gauge bypass as an extra precaution.

Problem fixed i was able to source the Bulkhead block & fuse block & connectors from AMS Obsolete Mopar Parts. I wanted to make sure something like that did not happen again is why i replaced everything in the circuit maybe wasn't necessary but wanted the peace of mind. Good luck with your repair.

I have never been a fan of the bypass. If everything is in good order, there is no reason to think there would be a problem. The fusible link is wired in to protect the system. The only cars that I have seen over the years that had problems were victims of someone's Mickey Mouse wiring. I watched the video that Big_John posted, and I am glad that I did.
