Original Owner Documented Survivor 1966 Fury III 383 Commando V8

Thank you for taking the time and energy to share, nice way to start my Sunday morning! And kudos for doing some heavy lifting to bring this car back. Perfect example of the enormous amount of $$ and work even the best cared for original can take to bring back.. Certainly a worthy example! Enjoy the miles this spring :)

upon acquiring my 65 polara, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH ... got as close as i could (Howards racing cam) to those Commando specs. Great engine tor that block

Lovely job! For whatever it's worth, here's a recommendation for refinishing your transmission case if you ever have it out of the car again. Looks like the shop that rebuilt your tranny just cleaned the grease off the case. I developed a really good technique for making the case look new again when I restored the A904 Torqueflite in my 1974 Duster. I took it to a blasting shop, where they sandblasted it, then bead blasted it to give it a softer finish. I then hit it with three coats of Krylon Clear Chalky Matte finish before reassembly. Looks like a brand new penny to this day. Anyhow, fantastic job with the Plymouth!

Thanks - I'm hoping it doesn't need to come out again in my lifetime!

Beautiful car and the documentation is great. have we seen some of your cars @ Gus's drive-in or Holts 4th of July?

Yes! We (my grandparents, parents, two aunts and uncles, and myself) used to attend Holz on the 4th with a whole bunch for finned Mopars since we all usually had off that day with nothing specifically planned. We stopped doing that once they started charging per car to enter the show as it became expensive for that many cars and essentially turned into just another average mixed make show, usually on a hot day on asphalt with little to no shade.

One aunt and uncle, as well as my parents and myself, all live near Gus's. My aunt and uncle are regular attendees with their '58 Adventurer (black), '59 Adventurer (white), '59 Firesweep Explorer, wagon (white), or '69 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 (orange/black). My parents go a couple times per year and have a '56 Fireflite convertible (red/white), a '56 Fireflite hardtop (yellow/white), a '59 Adventurer (black), and a '71 Roadrunner (blue). Besides my '66 Fury here, I also come up there a few times per year with my '59 Fireflite Sportsman (black) and sometimes also the Wednesday cruise night in Waukesha. My other aunt and uncle have also been at Gus's once or twice per year with one of their '61 300Gs or their '67 Dodge Monaco 500 (copper).

I tried to buy the blue 71 RR a number of times.
From my dad or a previous owner? My dad purchased it in 2005 and we believe he is the fourth owner of it. The original owner, based on paperwork, appears to have been a young guy and had his dad co-sign for it. The second owner had it from the '70s to the '90s and we met him at the Waukesha Wednesday cruise night where he recognized the car and ultimately sent us vintage photos of the car - small world! The third owner had it until 2005.

must have been you, CMC show perhaps 8-9 years ago when their show was at the high school, you were leaving I've also seen the fin cars @ Gus's, they are immaculate cars

Yes, that was definitely my dad and I. I recall having the RR at that show at least once and I seem to recall that he actually parked on the other side of the hill, near the swap vendors. He really enjoys that car as it runs so good and is a nice, #s matching semi-survivor. I actually learned to drive a stick shift on that car when I was about 16 or so.

Thanks for the compliment! If you catch me at one of the shows/cruises with my Fury or DeSoto, please stop to chat. I usually try to make a point of going down to the Fox Lake CMC show in June as well. The spring show keeps moving further south, so we haven't been to that one for several years now.

perhaps get up this way. There is a show in Appleton (Piece Park) which drew over a 1000 cars last year and that's not uncommon.

I would like to get to that show and maybe this is the year that I do. Unfortunately, it often conflicts with the CMC Belvidere Mopar Happening and the car show for that event is also the same Sunday this year.
