Found this in the warehouse last weekend. I have a few questions below if anybody can help. Thanks in advance.

Don't recall what exact car it was on, but it was a police car and i dont remember which one: a 1977 GF or a 1978 B-Body Monaco/Fury.

Nick's garage ID's the base as 1976-1977 police -- probably used in 1975 he thought and carried over to 1978 in the B's (i know this to be true on the B's).

Questions:

(1) any of you ever seen/heard tell of a chrome air cleaner lid on a cop rig (or any Mopar) of 1975(?)-1978 vintage? (before you answer see the last pic at very bottom of this post)

(2) Also, what' up with pic 6 -- where the Lean Burn "box" went? my '77 GF cop cars still have theirs so that looks like the spot for it. Somebody improvised to let more air in it seems.

Postscript. The chrome lid: that was the lid on the car when i got it. Rumor was some cop cars had them from the factory. I still was gonna call it a AM part .. UNTIL Nick's page showed this factory pic of a 78-79 Lil Red Truck.

Air cleaner base is a bit different (pass side snorkel is longer) but it had a chrome lid that was available in 1978 MY. yes? I've never seen under the hood of Lil Red Truck that's 100% original.

You have a rare LB dual snorkel. Used on LB equipped pursuits (78 for sure...77 too?) . The one I have came from a 78 Fury Pursuit (B body). They are more shallow than the C body 440 Single snorkel, so it's good if you're worried about hood clearance.
As you found, you have a transplant Lil Red Express lid there.
The LB Holes are there and appear stock from the photo...you have the LB wiring loom piece still there too.

really? .. did NOT know that obviously. thanks Mr. C.

What does "LB" stand for btw?

Chrysler used a few different variations of the short/long snorkel dual snorkel air cleaners. The basic snorkel form was universal, but the shorter ones didn't have to connect with hot air sources for the "trap door" snorkles, so they could be shorter. That explains the block-off plate on the bottom. Later 1980s versions, when evap emissions were important, had an additional "door" that sealed the snorkles from the air cleaner body, to limit evap emissions into the underhood atmosphere and outside environment.

The chrome top could have been a factory "thing", provided they needed them to keep the engine line running AND the chrome ones were readily and easily available. I have a whole set of pictures of LRTs and ALL of their variations. I went to Mopar Nats one year on that mission. About 4 roles of 36 exposure film. Need to get them copied and posted somewhere!

I concur that the car did have Electronic Lean Burn on it originally. There was allegedly a Chrysler TSB to relocate the control box to the car's interior. To keep it cooler than sitting right over the lh exhaust manifold. Back then, ALL normal computers were housed in air conditioned rooms, kept at 68 degrees F, so putting one in an underhood environment seemed suspect to many. Probably worse for RB cars than LA360s!

Great find!

I am lucky enough to have found one in my collection of parts that I have had for many years. I am selling off many of these parts and I was wondering what would be good collector car sites to advertise it on. The photos are attached.
