So, my stepdad decided to buy new magnum 500 rims and BFG Radial T/A tires for his turquoise ‘67 Fury III 4-door hardtop recently. If you have seen the car before the car has the same rim and tire combination on it, and there is nothing wrong with the old rims and tires but my stepdad wanted to put 15 inch rims and tires on it compared to the now former 14 inch rims and tires so he can eventually swap the car to disc brakes. The other and probably main reason is so he can put the 14” rims and tires on his red 1967 b-body Dodge Coronet 500. The 15x7 inch rims all came from CJs Pony Parts, the tires came from Summit Racing, and the red center dome caps my stepdad bought years ago in NOS condition. I just wanted to share the process with everyone. Lets start on April 4th 2025, when the rims arrive….

All done below. Now they just have to be balanced, then put the center dome caps on, then put them on the car….

Just curious, but why different sizes front/back?
I don’t know, my stepdad does this on all his cars. My stepdad says these rims and tires are “a classic look” and has them on all his cars. But in my opinion I think its like CBODY67 said its for the look of power and like a hotrod

To me there isn't enough difference in a 225 vs 235 with both being 70s, but to each their own.

First @SportFury70 love what you cats have done. Nice look on that '67.

On sizes, I kinda agree with @300rag. I too often go with mixed tire combos front/back. You can tell the difference with a good eye 225/70 vs. 235/70 -- but ya gotta look hard.

I tend to like FAT tires vs. TALL tires (i like to keep tire diameter eual or lesss than 28" on my slabbies).

Where I can get away with it (fitment), I mix 15x8 wheels with 275/60 tires in back, and 15x7 wheels with 225/70 tires in front. That nearly 2 inches of tread width, plus whatever I get in fatter section width with the wider wheel, gives the "don't mess with me rake/stance" I want.

(Yep, the same "rake" that puts the hot spot of the low beams on the ground 25' in front of the car AND exposes the fuel tank to additional collision risks.)
