Had some time to kill between classes so I decided to clean up and repaint these Dodge Division Covers I got a while back for $40, I wouldn’t call this a restoration...hence the title.

I took them apart, cleaned them up and gave all the screws a bath in some Evaporust .

here’s a before photo-

I used some evaporust brand paint stripper on the center black piece but decided not to use them on the grey spoke piece, just sanded them down.

After spraying one of the black center pieces- I didn’t mask the letters, just took a razor blade and scraped them off afterwards
used some metal polish to get the small bits off. Here’s a comparison shot -

For the spoke...piece...I used some Por 15 manifold grey high temp paint, it is pretty expensive but it sprays and lays down really well...the color is pretty close, I’d say a skosh darker but looks pretty good IMO.

one down, three to go!

I’ll do the rest when I have some more time to kill...

For the red line, I’m gonna cut out some red vinyl on our cutter as I think the factory also used stickers..

And they’re done!
I tried out some some red vinyl stickers cut on our machine but I didn’t like they way they were laying down and the over all finish, so I ripped them off and used some paint instead.

Not perfect but a heckuva lot better than what they were.

Next up is the grille!

Great job with the wheel covers! What are these parts for? :)

I finished the grille a bit ago, but forgot to update the thread.

I used some duplicolor Chrysler silver, I’m not sure what exactly it was but I’ll update the post if i find the cans…but yeah pretty similar shade, might be a skosh darker again .

I also used Tamiya 10mm (or might’ve been 6mm) scale model masking tape, which works way better than use regular masking tape and trimming it into thin strips for the center grille insert piece.

Here are some attempts to photograph the end result without showing the mess that is my workbench -
