I knew it could not be that easy. I removed the 3 bolts on the engine side there is still something attached on the interior side. I look at my '66 SM and they say, first go to steps to remove heater.

Say it ain't so, please some one tell me there is a quick any easy way to do this. I really don't want to remove my heater.

Sorry I can't be any help on this one Mike. My car has factory air and the blower motor is exposed in the Engine Bay and is removed fairly easily.

There is always a first. Thanks for all your help on everything else.

The squirrel cage prevents it from coming out the engine side of the firewall.

Thanks for the info. :occasion14: It had a pretty good opening behind the motor but obviously not big enough. I need to dig out my part catalog to see the exploded view of everything. I don't know why I didn't think of it yesterday, just still in denial I guess.

With the heater only option, the blower motor is not exposed through the firewall in the engine bay. With the A/C and Heater option, the blower motor is exposed through the firewall in the engine bay and the blower motor and fan is easily removed.

Ah. When he said he got the three bolts out I assumed he was working from the firewall side. I have AC also. I honestly didn't know that you could not access the blower from the firewall side on a non AC car.

Now I really wish I had A/C.

I've been trying this too and mine won't budge. I feel like I'm gonna break something behind the dash if I keep trying to pull or wiggle it out

I was hoping no one would bring this thread back up because of my embarrassment, but I must contribute. When I went back to the motor after a few days I realized it was not the fan motor but the window wiper motor. With the cowling removed, one bolt and the motor came right out. :head_smack:

Dont think that you are the first one to feel this way.......... You are NOT alone. While I can obviously not speak for everyone one the board, I would bet that everyone here has had a moment like that, some more than others. I myself fall into the "more than others" category
