I need a bit of info as I this is my first classic Mopar and my experience has mostly been with GM products. My ‘65 Imperial has what appears to be two sending units on the water pump assembly. I am sure one of them would be the water temperature sending unit, but what would the other one be? And what kind of sending unit is it?

The Imperial has the "Sentry Signal" system in addition to its gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The Sentry Signal is an indicator light that illuminates when the coolant temperature reaches too high over temperature, too low oil pressure or too low fuel level. For engine coolant temperature, there is a sending unit and a switch. The sending unit is for the gauge and the switch is for the Sentry Signal light. The sensor is the smaller of the two with a single wire connection. The switch is larger with two wire connections.

If you don't have a copy, you can find a factory service manual scan for download at 1965 Chrysler and Imperial Service Manual.
