After fixing my intake leak I was hoping it was my only issue. Luck of the Irish said no!! So now my torque flight is shifting into 2nd gear almost immediately. Even if I manually put it in 1st, it will still shift into 2nd. Attempting to "power brake" the car, it will shift into 2nd as soon as the tires start to break loose. Any ideas ?

There..... That should be better. Of course I didn't get out to the barn early enough. By the time I finished it was 9pm and unfortunilty I like my my neighbors. In another example of "the luck of the Irish" today was my last dry, snowless day. Tomorrow ......8-12" of snow and cooler temps for a while! Efn figures lol.

I did run into one snag, the carburetor rod is a half inch too short . So to make up for that half inch until I can get another rod or another bell crank. I can't see an issue with it but I also had the linkage adjusted assbackwards! Any objections to this? Or should I say any opinions on whether my trans will have any objections?:wideyed:

If it is shifting into second with the shifter in first, you have a problem other than throttle pressure linkage.

With the shifter in 1 it should blow up before it shifts.

The only trans I know of that will upshift to 2nd like that is a Turbo 400.

Any idea how deep the problem could be? I'd like to avoid buying another trans, thus the crapshoot with this one. It came with the 413 and the 67 ny'er I had for a minute.

Put the shifter in 1 and then pop the linkage off the shift arm on the trans and verify that it is actually in first. If the shifter arm is loose on the valve body shaft, it might not be shifting it all the way down. This is assuming a factory shifter. If it's an aftermarket shifter the lever geometry might be off, causing it not to shift into first.

If all is well there, you're probably looking at a valve body problem.
