Considering the minimum wage was $1.25 back then, you'd be shittin' in high cotton with that pay and all those Benny's.
 
This one is of downtown Buffalo. Main St. (Rte. 5) and Lafayette St. It was one of the busiest areas of the city especially at Christmas. My guess would be early to mid Fifties. That Century theatre was a great venue for rock concerts when I grew up. Of course in their infinite wisdom they tore it down after they put an above ground mass transit rail line down Main St. that no one used. They stopped all car traffic on that section of Main St., which ruined that section for a lot of businesses. Became a ghost town.

By '73 I was getting over $7.00 an hour as summer help at Dodge Main..
Big bucks for a kid in college but no way I'm doing that for life!
