Something looks wrong

yeah im trying to figure out whats wrong with this. Itll be up eventually though

all that grey stuff im pretty sure is head sealer. The part you are looking at is the front of the block above the camshaft bore bearing. It looks like there is a chunk missing

I believe it's supposed to be there, splash oils the timing chain. If I am wrong someone else will chime in and correct it.

Just to clarify, it is inside the block, not anywhere where the timing chain is. Sorry if my wording is misleading. I wish I could circle the area where the issue is

Oil in the lifter valley will go out the hole onto the timing chain.

If you mean if front of the lifter bores on #2 cylinder, be at peace, all is well, nothing is missing.

But where did all the oil come from that is in the cylinder bores and on the pistons?

Mine has the same rough casting, look to the lower right of this pic. I believe this normal, not a defect.

Well thats a relief. So it looks like this motor may be rebuildable after all. Just gotta check that crack that is at the top of the deck between #5 and 7, pray to god that the crack doesnt go into the block.
