Could someone tell me what cable will work on my 65 ? My transmission is a 68 727 TF i tried using one for a 66 and the nut that screws on the back of the speedo is about a 32nd to small ? The other end looked right but i didn't try it . Any help would be appreciated.

There should be no difference tween the 65 and 66 cable.
If the nut seems like it refuses to thread it is because you're not keeping the end of the CABLE EXACTLY aligned the the speedo thread. It can be tricky.

Isn't the speedometer pinon housing interchangeable?

The later models that just slide on and are held on with a clip are MUCH easier.

If anyone is interested belive it or not a 1966 uses a 1/2 " nut on the back of the speedo and a 1965 uses a 5/8 " nut the transmissions are all the same from 66 up they take a 7/8" nut . You won't belive what i found that fits perfect and the right length. Here is a link.
