I was tired of attending shows that did not appeal to me for one reason or another. I have attend hundreds since 1976. My friends own several cars and I decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. For me the park is one block away. I rented the whole park for $35 as a City resident. The park has a shelter, basketball and tennis court plus playground for the young kids. I suspect the park can hold 200 cars with a 10' X 20' space each spot. For food I asked the local Police Explorers to do the cooking and parking of the cars with a donation to their cause. The business cards were purchased by me to advertise it instead of 8 X 11 sheets of paper. The word is getting around and possibly for next year the City may host the show during the Fourth of July event as the main draw. If that happens it will be at three parks that are joined to each other that goes along a river. Combined the three parks should hold 250-350 cars. We are not getting any younger, its time to get involved to keep the hobby going.....like I say Start/Host a car show? Why Not. 100_0346.jpg

Good for you!!!
Let's hope this is a success and the start to an annual event.
I host a very small weekly one and next week is my last one.
I can't stand one more metric.....

Reminder for anyone close by, its tomorrow. Weather hopefuly will cooperate. All eight of my cars should be there.

You're funding everything? Why? You could charge $5 at the gate per car to cover the cost of the park rental and donation to the Explorers. $5 is a steal being as most car shows around here are $35 minimum. This way, you're only donating your most valuable resource: your time.

We fund our car show by selling 50/50 tickets.
Nobody would come if there was an entry fee.

Wow...every show here in SoCal has an entry fee except for the weekly/monthly cruise ins such as Early Rodders: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Early-Rodders/131514983593762; NHRA Twilight Cruise: http://www.museum.nhra.com/apcm/templates/general.asp?articleid=54221&zoneid=56&navsource=cruises and Bob's Big Boy: http://www.bobs.net/events/classic-car-show. Just about everything else costs to get your car in. Most that charge usually come with a t shirt and have awards.

Maybe I mispoke. My "car show" is actually a Thursday Cruise Night.
