Starter 76 Newport 400 CI

I bought a 76 Newport with a 400 CI engine. I bought a starter for it a number #3258 rebuilt. But my mechanic says it will not bolt up. Do you have any knowledge of what will work on my car? Model number of starter? Thanks, Greg

Should have been a 3250 for a rebuilt.
That was the old numbers but that could be a new number but somone switched them out by mistake as all BB Mopars use the same mounting holes.

#3258 is correct for a rebuilt.
The wrong starter was in the box or the wrong mechanic tried putting in the starter.
Those are the only possibilities.
Unless the car is not a Mopar....

I was just kidding, everyone on here would rather see a fender tag over a Nudie picture! I remember that car from the auction, I loved the seat cushion design.
