The Brubaker box VAN

It looks like that is where Tesla got the theme for its upcoming pick up truck:

A friend of mine bought a Brubaker Box around 2012ish with plans to restore it. Unfortunately he's a guy who gets euphoric very quickly with things and jumps from one project to another in a heartbeat. So the car sat for about 7 years with him just working sporadic on it. In 2019 he finally brought it to life and and we drove it around in front of the shop. Most parts are easy to get by here in Germany as there's a lot of VW Käfer components used like engine etc. It was horrible to drive as the seat position and the angle towards the pedals plain catastrophic. In order to operate the pedals your feet are higher than your bottom which makes it very uncomfortable to drive for longer than 5 minutes. You're basically stuck in a sit-up position, great for your abs maybe but not for comfort :D
He finally sold the car last year to a guy who was from the Berlin area IIRC. I doubt that it will ever optain legal registration in Germany. There's not one registered Brubaker in Germany so getting it through all the TÜV stuff etc will be a tremendous effort. Safety wise, it just has one door which is on the passenger side, the original front bumper is plain wood and so on... But a very unique car indeed

its just another of many vw kit cars.... and not a good one...the early vw swingaxle bugs had a nasty habit of winding up on their roofs so rolled ones were plentiful in junkyards and the chassis easily unbolted...so the industry was born...pick your poison...dune buggies, 30's bugattis,50's MGs, porsche spyders and 917's,GT40s and an assortment of one off "exotics"....the majority of which were put together by people with no mechanical ability whatsoever and if ever finished were a complete nightmare to drive

Jeff Dunham, the comedian just had one restored by Galpin auto in California. There’s a full episode of “car Kings” on the motor trend app if you have.

Kind a looks like a AMC pacer and a VW bus had a baby. :D

My previous neighbor had sand rails n used 65+ Corvair half shafts with the Corvair powerplants retaining the VW arms in the rear, IIRC. Those sand rails were fast.

I saw that episode yesterday……..later on YouTube found the one posted...

@69monaco I'm from Germany but not a fan of German cars though. They're mostly too small. I'm 6'4 tall, tried to drive a BMW 2002 one... I just don't fit into these cars.
As @Fury Pursuit mentioned it's a Bitter SC, very rare car. I know they started with GM V8s but the SC model just had a 6 cylinder IIRC. Never drove in one though, they're very rare

Correct ; i imported it from Denver ; it was a late version with the upgradet 3.9 liter Mantzel engine but it is more a cruiser than a sportscar.
I believe 50% sold in the US from a total of plusminus 480 cars.

Found a video of that Brubaker in motion but don´t know how to upload it.
I can only upload pictures or embed links but no videos from my computer.
Any advice or is it just not possible to do

Found it on my storage. It's just a short clip I took with the car driving
