Tool ideas?

Took a 5' long piece of 5/8" hose and looped it into the tee, aired it up to 20 psi and let it sit overnight. Lost no pressure,; so in the morning, I'll hook it up to the core. Not including the pressure gauge, I have a whopping five bucks in my little test "T". If the core checks out with air pressure, I'll toss some coolant in it and see if there are any indications of leaks with coolant, pressure, and warmed up to operating temperature.

I'm hoping the previous owner simply bypassed the core, because he stored the car in Winter and didn't feel the need to have coolant in the core. Of course, he's been dead for a decade, so asking him isn't in the cards.

Now, we have six inches of snow on the ground...

At first thought I might think that 20 psi is not enough... but I wouldn't know. What do others think? I would have put at least 50 psi into it to see if there was a pressure loss... perhaps that's too much?

Way too much. Twenty pounds is over the 13# in most older cars. At 50#, you're guaranteed to blow things out.
