It looks as though I'll be making a trip to Texas to see my Dad. He's 87 and a few weeks ago his health started to take a turn for the worse.

I want to get the family down there now encase the trend continues. My kids are 3, 5, 8, & 9 so I'd like them to see Granddad before things get too bad.

A couple of weeks ago he told me that he wouldn't be making his trip to PA in July. It's enough that he's talking about putting himself in a nursing home.

Here's the route that I would most likely take, I can nearly do it in my sleep.

Western Pa to Brenham, TX

I don't have any concerns about our van making it, but knowing there are some friendly faces along the way encase something were to happen is nice.

Sorry to hear about your dad, thoughts and prayers from the Motor City.

I too am sorry to hear about your dad.

1500 miles with the entire family in the van sounds like a memorable road trip. Have a safe journey.

John: Very sorry to hear your dad is ailing. Sounds like he is beginning to see what is probably ahead for him. . . If I was you, I wouldn't wait any longer to take this trip. We'll be thinking of you. . . and your dad.

Nothing beats old age more than a bunch of visiting grandchildren! Have a very safe trip, precious cargo on board!

Sorry to hear about your Dad. Went down that same road a few years ago. When are you planning on making the trip? I will be back in the U.S. in mid April for about a month. Will be back and forth between far Northwest Houston and College Station. Would love to get acquainted.

Don't miss this place just to drool over Google Maps.
94 year old owner passed 75 year old son, attorney has no clue. if you look at the adjacent land to the south and east you see where over 300 1950's, 60's and early 70's cars were crushed about 18 months ago for scrap prices. I remember rows of Imperials :(

OH and this time of year pay close attention to the weather advisories. Photo is from College Station last weekend.
