Instrument cluster back in with harness atrached. Next radio and steering column.

Still working on the instrument cluster. The plastic surrounds have warped with age and was difficult to install. Received a pair of horns and a hood latch from a member. Will find my origional set when the project is finished.

Vacuum line to the temp switch was bad. Will replace line prior to installing the radio.

Installed the radio and glove box. Tomorrow will install the steering and hook up the remaining wires.

50 + yr old steering wheel. Rim blow still works. Had a few cracks that i filled in with black plastic weld.

Imstalled the steering shaft and wheel. Tomorrow will finish the electrics.

Used large washers on the baseplate. Not sure why the holes in the baseplate were so large. Safety wired and red loctite the bolts for the coupler.

Still working on the wiring while the weather is still good. Took some time to find and install the 30 amp circuit breaker. Finding this part took the most time. (Believe i have 2 but havent found the second one yet.) Installed the breaker and it completed the circuit for the power window relay and power seat circuit.

Circuit breaker fits next to the horn relay. Circuit diagram for the imperial is better than the one for the chrysler

Still working on the wiring. Needed to hook up the power window saftey relay. According to the wire diagram (imperial) it closes when the acc circuit is energized.

Many yrs ago when my brother had the chrysler he bypassed this relay when it failed (see pic) i could not find a spare wire connection tied in with the acc buss. So i took a wire connected to the ignition circut that was in use and tied the relay to that circuit.

Tomorrow will test all circuits with a battery.

Thank you for posting P/N 2964806. For those interested, here is a comparison of the 1971 and 1972 sail panel medallions:

Hooked up the brake peddle and assoc light switch. Tested some of the circuits: trunk light; clock; horn : glove box light . Will finish up remaining circuits tomorrow.

Continied circuit testing. Headlights work. taillights work. Brake lights work. Side marker lights work. Turn signal lights only work on the drivers side. Emergency flashers again only work on the drivers side. (Will check wiring - any ideas welcomed.) Window lift circuit works (lawn mower battery not strong enough to lift windows but clear the circuit works.) Fender turn signal indicators not working (probably a ground issue.) Dash light not working (again any ideas welcomed.)

Determined the electrical problems 1) turn signal and flasher not working on the passenger side - faulty turn signal switch in the steering column. 2) dash lights not working - defective fuse box connection for the wire going to the headlight switch. Will bypass the faulty fuse panel connection.

I was able to bypass the fuse box and test the circuit for the dash lights. They work. Will now create a new circuit with an inline fuse attaching the dash lights to the light switch rheostat.

Heres the circuit diagrams for the daah light bypass and the window safety relay. I keep these in my book as an update to electrical work done.
