I received a replacement carpet and this was in the box...

What's it for?
Should I have gotten more with the carpet?

SWEET! Thanks for the fast response!

My old carpet does not have this...

Ive read they werent born with the grommet , It ads a finishing touch but not correct

so if I modify my car then with this little grommet it won't be 100% factory?

I don't need to worry about that then since this car has been reborn a few times now!

But thanks for the that factory fact!

Didn't these come out in the 70's? I know they're standard on Formals.

Use the grommet. I've run across where threads from the carpet have jammed the switch.

I've probably already said this a bunch of times. Use a soldering iron to make the hole. Much easier and cleaner results.

Good tip John

My '69 Imperial do have the grommet! But only for 1 of the switches. Maybe the other one just got lost. And I'm pretty sure it's the factory carpet.
