I am a product of the late 80s, early 90s. I have an opportunity to get a 94 viper, stock for a.very good price and low, low mileage. Butttttttt, I would have to get rid of my 880. I put a lot of work into it and love the car. Never seen a 64 2 door anywhere else. I understand that once I sell it, I more then likely will never find another. But the gen 1 viper is my absolute dream car. Opinions from the older, wiser ones would help. Thanks in advance

Ever sit in a Viper? Do that first. They are cool, but I don't find them comfortable.

And then there's this... The upside down Daffy Duck emblem. Once you see it..

LOL.... We used to make these for Chrysler along with the Viper hub cap... I pointed it out to the engineer that had signed off on it years ago just before he retired.. He just stood there looking at it.

Snake Season...Duck Season...

Why may I ask a Gen 1 Viper as compared to other Vipers? Is this the top down only model? You will see lots of Vipers in your life as there are alot of them but not your car. Soon and now Vipers are at car shows and cruises and will be as common as Camaro's and Cuda's. While nice cars I get the feeling there are more Camaro's and Cuda's now than were made at the factory.

Give me ten minutes alone with you while I'll tell you my Corvette dream car stories and you'll run away from the Viper and puke your guts out thinking how stupid an idea that was. Plus you WILL kill yourself in a 1st gen Viper forcing yourself to believe it's a supercar. Cruder than an original 427 Cobra.

But it's your life...

I remember when they first hit the lot. V10 400HP in a world of 250HP V8's. They were a big deal but at $80k plus didn't see to many. There is a Dealer in Calgary that had the first one shipped to Canada apparently paid $220000 back then. Sold it a couple of years ago for $40k. It's a fun ride but it ain't no classic IMHO. Had a guy try to trade one in offered him $25000 (1994 model 50000kms) he wanted $60000

You have one of the nicest 880's on the planet, and you built it yourself. No classic lines on the Viper what so ever. Definitely keep the 880.

Keep the 880... Please.

You won't find the Viper nearly as much fun to work on and likely will demand more to stay road worthy... parts will suck...

If you must have it, finance to keep the other dream intact... the Viper will most likely lose it's appeal in time. At least you can sell and be back at square one.

Or just ignore me...

Keep the 880. I feel the novelty wears off quickly with Vipers, Corvettes, and original Hemi cars then you start worrying about bugs landing on them people walking to close and that gets old.

I'm not really a longstanding member of the forum but I do have experience in swapping out dreams.. My advice is to wait it out. That 880 is too, too cool to let go. Vipers will be around in years to come.

Too, I tried replacing my Monaco by taking the easy route and getting a 15 Challenger Scat Pack.... I figured it'd been long enough to that I'd forget all the subtle niceties of my old car... But the airflow sucks, the radio comes on automatically, whoever designed the touchscreen interface obviously did a ton of blow, it sends you emails when the tire pressure changes ... It's just a bit too much and on top of that, it isn't comfortable.

At least I could find the problem in a 70 challenger. I can barely locate the friggin dip stick in this thing!
