What engine is this?

I've never seen these valve covers before - notice the wavy bottom lip and only 2 bolts holding it on? Where is the stamping that would tell me?

They are small block "poly" engines, predecessor to the LA small blocks.

There would be a very good chance of that being the original, as 66 was the last year.

Good stuff to know. Now, will the manifolds, intake, water pump transfer to an LA engine?

This engine has the deadly knock of death, trying to determine my options - rebuild or replace.

My understanding is that everything forward of the block will work on the LA series engines, timing cover, water pump etc., nothing else.

Do a search for "poly". I seem to remember someone has one for sale.

If you want power out polys. It will do it, use LA stroke kit and port heads. Mopar Muscle Magazine has more info.

That's a POLY, not sure of CI, could be a 318? There are many different sizes depending on year and make, Good Luck!

66 was the last year in the USA
Some of the Canadian models had left over polys so there are a few that are 67's that have the poly
Leftovers.....
