Who to blame for 440 Throwing a Rod

Key here for me is his mechanic performed an oil change.. so out with the 20/50w or straight 50w that was keeping the engine running albeit with concerning sounds and in with the 10w40.. start it up and then boom. I am betting there was heavy weight oil in there but we will probably never know. Hopefully OP can source a motor and save it. Either way, a sucky thing when it happens..
