Came across this car a week or so ago, mostly complete 68 300 2dr with a 440/auto, power drums brakes, power windows, rear defogger. Guy was selling it cheap...$650 cdn for the car, but no registration or papers.

Thought it would be a good parts car for my 68 T/C wagon, and perhaps the whole front end will end up on the wagon one day to make a 68 300 wagon...;)

So loaded up the truck, hooked to my trailer and made the 5 hour drive one way to go get the car. This is how I found it when I arrived...

Guy used a big forklift to drag it out, he was going to drop it onto my trailer but I could see damage happening that way so I said I would swap on some rims and tires I brought with me and use my 10 ton chain drive come-a-long to drag it up onto the trailer. He said he'd lift it with the fork lift and then used his big cordless impart to spin off all the lug nuts for me...super cool of him since that would have taken me at least an hour to do by hand.

He then placed it with the front wheels on the back of my trailer to save me some more time, then I used my come-a-long to drag it up the rest of the way.

Guy thinks the motor is locked up, I have not tried to move it yet...

Had already cleaned out a huge box of old crumpled up newspapers and other debris from inside....

When he dragged it out all but the RH front wheel started to turn, so spent some time working of get that drum off and moving.

Found another use for the old 1940's-50's drum puller I bought when I had my 48 Desoto...

Took a lot of hammering, and pressure from the puller to get that drum free...

Got it all put back together and now it will roll around.

Sorting and cleaning today...

Saw this on the drivers side rear spring mount...guess it was towed out of a ditch maybe and tore the frame boxing apart.

Fender tag is present and in great shape, and I even found a mint build sheet!

Guess all that newspaper inside the car gave the critters lots of nesting material and they left the build sheet alone....:) I haven't decoded the fender tag or build sheet yet, but the numbers all match.

Over all the car is in really good shape, minimal rust and damage. Pretty happy with the car.

Good score Brian!
Btw. The bench seat had to be ordered no extra cost since buckets were standard in all 300's with buddy seat and floorshift console was extra cost option.
This car goes to show the bench was still king back in the day.
Nowadays you cant get a bench...not ecen in a truck!

Great score! Try turning the engine yet?

No not yet...I pressure washed the motor last night and got the car off the trailer. Will change the oil (used oil from my cummins) and filter, spin the oil pump to prime the motor, then pull the plugs and squirt in some diesel in the cylinders and let it sit for a day or two. Maybe my next days off Ill get a bar on the crank and see if i can get it to move.

Very cool. I wish I could find a NYer parts car for that kind of coin.
there out there
You'd have to drive a while though...
I'm assuming everyone at this forum knows all about Wildcat Auto Wreckers up in Oregon??
They specialize in classic mopars- rather I should say they exclusively deal with classic mopars.
When I went there last I asked if they had any '68 Fury ll's as I needed some parts and the guy said, "hey Tony, take this guy over to the '68 Fury ll section". and lo and behold 5 or 6 '68 Fury ll's to look at. Amazing.
Here are a couple of New Yorkers:

My Dad's '68 300 came with the bench seat. Somewhere I have/had the window sticker and IIRC, it was a $35 add-on... Or possibly a $35 subtraction, I can't remember which, but I do seem to recall $35 being in the mix.

If I get a chance, I'll look for it later.

Congrats, looks really solid for the most part! I'm a sucker for rescuing derelicts and getting them back on the road safely while leaving the body as-is...I would totally daily this beast haha.

Congratulations on your purchase, man that was a sharp car back in the day and would be a sharp car again if brought back to life! I will now be following, best of luck with what you do with it.

The 300 can swing both ways...parts or fix up..
I like the idea of the 300 frt clip on the wagon.
Having flashbacks of when I bought a 68 Newport "just for parts"....Then I got it running......
The rest is history..LOL!!

Biggest issue is there is no registration or title, and BC really has no agency available to get a new one, other then a new modern assigned VIN and a salvage type title or designation.

The bench seat resulted in a $63 invoice credit. Same thing with my fasttop '68 300. It now has buckets.
